In ancient cultures, animal produce was the reward of hard work. In the modern supermarket however, meat has become merely an object to purchase without further thought. The visual research ‘Object-Chicken-Subject’ opens up a conversation about the way we could identify with industrially processed food.
A T-shirt becomes a daily tribute. It bears subtle traces including a ring like those used for tagging the chickens and a small 3D-replica of a bone vacuum shaped between layers of fabric. In wearing the shirt, we take on remnants of the animal’s identity.
